体長：～30cm
中部日本以南に分布するが、庄内でも夏から秋にかけて幼魚が磯で見られる。内湾、沿岸浅所や河口の汽水域に多く生息する。幼魚の体には４本の黒色縦帯があるが、成長にともなってその間に細い縦線が出てくる。

傘高１２ｍｍほどの小さいクラゲ。
北海道から本州に分布し、春に見られる。庄内浜では、冬から春にかけて出現する
傘の中心から伸びている口柄は伸縮自在で、4本の触手で捕らえた餌を器用に食べる。
繁殖にも成功しており、常に１０℃以下の環境下で飼育している。
This species is a small jellyfish with a bell height of about 12 mm.
It is distributed from Hokkaido to Honshu and is seen in spring. At Shonai Beach in front of Kamo Aquarium, it appears from winter to spring.
The proboscis extending from the center of the bell is flexible and retractable, allowing it to skillfully eat prey captured by its four tentacles.
Breeding has also been successful, and it is always kept in an environment below 10°C.
