主に南日本に分布する。成体は他のクラゲのように浮遊しないため、発見は難しい。

底面の平らな部分に着底して生活している。

幼生は顕著な触手を持ち、浮遊生活する。

水槽内で繁殖にも成功しており、ルーペを用いてよく観察すると幼生が見えることがある。

 

This species is primarily distributed in southern Japan.

Adults do not float like other jellyfish, making them difficult to spot.
They settle and live on flat areas on the seafloor.
Larvae possess prominent tentacles and lead a planktonic life.
Breeding has also been successful in aquariums; using a magnifying glass, larvae can sometimes be seen.
