傘高４ｍｍほどの小さなクラゲ。北海道から九州に分布し、庄内浜でも春先に見られる。

口柄の上部に紅色斑があり、傘の外側には小さな刺胞塊が散在する。

当館では採集個体と繁殖個体を一緒に展示することがある。

 

This species is a small jellyfish with a bell height of about 4 mm.

It is distributed from Hokkaido to Kyushu and can be seen in early spring at Shonai Beach.
It has a reddish spot on the upper part of the proboscis, and small clusters of nematocysts are scattered on the outer surface of the bell.
At my aquarium, I sometimes display both collected specimens and bred specimens together.
