「クラゲと言えばこれ！」というくらい、メジャーな種。日本近海で最も多く見られるクラゲ。

本種に刺されても痒くなる程度だが、何度も刺されると過敏になるので注意が必要。

庄内浜では、冬に3㎜ほどの幼生、春～秋に大型のクラゲが出現し、最大で40㎝にもなる。

Although stings from this species cause only mild itching, repeated stings can potentially trigger anaphylactic shock, so caution is necessary.
At Shonai Beach, ephyra about 3mm in size appear in winter, while large jellyfish emerge from spring to autumn, reaching up to 40cm in size.
