MOU Agreement: France Paris aquarium
We signed an MOU with the Paris Aquarium in 2016 and have maintained exchanges for over a decade.
Aiming for world-class jellyfish exhibits, we share husbandry techniques and exchange jellyfish specimens.
In fact, with the Paris Aquarium’s cooperation, we’ve acquired jellyfish from around the world. This has significantly increased the number of species of jellyfish exhibited at Kamo Aquarium and improved our breeding techniques.
We sometimes go on joint collection trips overseas and conduct training sessions at each other’s aquariums.
This is a scene from the 2016 signing ceremony.
The director of Kamo aquarium conducted fieldwork in France, deepening connections with local staff while communicating in English.
We had local aquarium staff take us out by boat to collect a large jellyfish called a Rhizostoma octopus.
The director of Kamo Aquarium is checking for fertilized eggs under a microscope.
We travel together with staff from the Aquarium de Paris to collect jellyfish around the world.Moving forward, we will continue to deepen our collaboration while focusing our efforts on exhibiting and breeding these precious jellyfish.

This shows the jellyfish sampling expedition to Taiwan in 2024, conducted jointly by my aquarium, the Paris Aquarium, and Tokai University.
We hope to keep this wonderful relationship going forward.
Once again, thank you.
