当館の個体は、台湾や沖縄で採集された個体を繁殖させた。

ベニクラゲの仲間は「不老不死」と言われるが、飼育していると寿命で死ぬし、年もとるので「不老不死」ではない。

クラゲからポリプに変態する現象は観察される。

 

The specimens in my aquarium were bred from individuals sampled in Taiwan and Okinawa.
Although jellyfish of the genus Aequorea are said to be “immortal,” they do die of old age and age over time when kept in captivity, so they are not truly “immortal.”
The phenomenon of jellyfish metamorphosing into polyps has been observed.
