初夏に北海道で見られる。
近縁種のカミクラゲは8か所から多数の触手を伸ばすが、本種は傘の縁から均等に伸ばす。
カミクラゲと同様、触手を伸ばして漂う姿が美しい。
本種も生活史は不明で、ポリプは未発見である。
The closely related Spirocodon saltatrix extends numerous tentacles from eight points, whereas this species extends them evenly from the bell margin.
Like the Spirocodon saltatrix, it is beautiful as it drifts with its tentacles extended.
