とても小さなクラゲで、ポリプはムシロガイなどの腹足類を宿主とする。稚クラゲの触手と口触手は４本。20日ほどで大きさ1.5mmほどに成長し、触手は4本と変わらないが口触手は10~15本になる。遊離する時の水温によりクラゲの形態に差が生じる。写真は稚クラゲ。

 

A very small jellyfish. Its polyps parasitize gastropods such as the sea slug. Juvenile jellyfish have four tentacles and four oral tentacles. Within about 20 days, they grow to approximately 1.5 mm in size. While the number of tentacles remains four, the oral tentacles increase to 10–15. Differences in jellyfish morphology arise depending on the water temperature at the time of release.The specimen pictured is a juvenile jellyfish.
