ドイツのハンブルグの水族館に突如出現したポリプやクラゲを基に新種記載された。傘に並ぶ橙色の刺胞塊が森に差し込む木漏れ日のように見えることが和名の由来。

体内に褐虫藻があるという箱虫綱では珍しい特徴がある。

 

This species was described as new based on polyps and jellyfish that suddenly appeared at Hamburg Aquarium in Germany.
Its Japanese name originates from the orange cnidocytes lining its bell, which resemble sunlight filtering through a forest canopy.
It possesses a rare characteristic among Cubozoa: the presence of symbiodinium within its body.
