北海道から九州にかけての沿岸に分布。

触手は３２本まであり、長くのびる。

傘の上にある突起が「烏帽子（えぼし）」の様に見えることが名前の由来。

餌を与えた時に触手が絡まってしまうことがあるが、そのうちほどけることが多い。

 

This species is distributed along the coasts from Hokkaido to Kyushu.
This jellyfish has up to 32 tentacles that extend to considerable lengths.
Its name originates from the protrusions on its bell resembling a traditional Japanese hat called an “eboshi”.
When feeding, the tentacles may become entangled, but they often untangle themselves over time.
