傘径は１ｍｍに満たず、円盤状の形をしている。

おそらく当館の展示の中で、最も小さいクラゲ。

世界中に広く分布し、日本でも各地で見られる。

ポリプは海藻などの上に付着する。

オベリアクラゲはクラゲでの同定が難しく、ポリプの形やDNA分析で同定する。

本種のポリプはジグザグ状。写真は稚クラゲの状態である。

 

This species has a bell diameter of less than 1 mm and a disc-shaped form.
It is likely the smallest jellyfish in my aquarium’s exhibition.
It is widely distributed worldwide and can be found in various locations throughout Japan.
The polyps attach themselves to seaweed and other surfaces.
The Obelia genus is extremely difficult to identify, requiring polyp morphology or DNA analysis for confirmation.
The polyps of this species are zigzag-shaped.
The photograph shows the juvenile jellyfish stage.
