庄内浜では春から初夏にかけて見られるが、小さく透明なため捕れたことすら見落とすことがある。傘の上から２本の触手が出るその姿を見れば、誰でもこの名をつけたくなるだろう。

傘に強い光を当てると緑色をおびる。外洋性のクラゲで飼育・繁殖は難しい。

At Shonai Beach in front of Kamo Aquarium, they can be seen from spring to early summer, but they are so small and transparent that you might not even notice you’ve caught one.
Seeing its two tentacles extending from the umbrella-like bell, anyone would want to give it the name “Yajirobee (Japanese traditional balance toy).”
When strong light hits the bell, it takes on a greenish hue. As an open-ocean jellyfish, it is difficult to keep and breed.
