体長：～10cm

日本各地に分布する。袖状突起が大きい。刺激を受けると、袖状突起を開閉して蝶が羽ばたくように泳ぐ。

飼育は難しいが、当館では繁殖にも成功している。

 

Found throughout Japan. Possesses large lobes.

When stimulated, it opens and closes these lobes to swim in a manner resembling a butterfly flapping its wings.
Though difficult to keep in captivity, our facility has successfully bred them.
Additionally, it is an exception among comb jellies in being dioecious.
