身体は平たく透明だが、中央が赤褐色に色づく。

しばらく飼育を続けてもこの赤褐色は消えない。

北日本や日本海沿岸でよく見られる。

本種を含め、ウリクラゲの仲間はカブトクラゲの仲間を好んで捕食する。

 

This species has a flat, transparent body, but its center turns reddish-brown.
This reddish-brown color does not fade even after prolonged captivity.
It is commonly seen in northern Japan and along the Sea of Japan coast.
This species, along with other Beroe cucumis species, prefers to prey on Bolinopsis mikado.
