傘高４ｍｍほどのクラゲで、西日本を中心に秋に見られる。

クラゲからポリプに若返る現象で有名になったクラゲ。「不老不死」とよく言われるが、年もとるし死ぬこともあるため、「不老不死」ではない。

当館ではポリプから遊離したクラゲを育てて展示している。

 

This jellyfish has a bell diameter of about 4 mm and is commonly seen in western Japan during autumn.
It is famous for its phenomenon of reverting from a jellyfish back to a polyp.

Although often called “immortal,” but it does age and can die, so it is not truly immortal.
In my aquarium, We cultivate and exhibit jellyfish that have detached from their polyps.
