タイ・フィリピンでは食用として採集されており、主に中国などに輸出される水産重要種である。

傘に多数の毛のような突起が現れ、蓑をまとったような姿が特徴である。

Numerous hair-like projections appear on the cap, giving it a distinctive appearance resembling a straw raincoat.
