日本産のミズクラゲと比べ、大型で傘径50cmまで成長する。

また、傘の裏側（口腕）の中央が王冠のように発達する。

飼育下では2年以上生きることもある。

 

This species is larger than Aurelia coerulea, growing up to 50 cm in bell diameter.
Additionally, the center of the underside of the bell (oral arm) develops like a crown.
In captivity, it can live for over two years.
