サカサクラゲ属の一種

ウィーンのシェーンブルン動物園からポリプをいただき、クラゲを遊離させて育成している。

サカサクラゲの仲間は体内に褐虫藻が共生しており、褐虫藻が光合成をして作成したエネルギーを利用すると考えられている。

うまく飼育するためには照明が必要であるが、それだけでは足りないので餌も与えている。

 

We received polyps from Vienna’s Schönbrunn Zoo and are raising the jellyfish by freeing them.

Species of the Cassiopea family harbor symbiodinium within their bodies, and it is believed they utilize energy produced by photosynthesis from these symbiodinium. Lighting is necessary for successful cultivation, but it alone is insufficient, so we also provide food.
