扁平な体をもち、成体には櫛板がない。

櫛板があるのは幼生の時だけである。

体長は２～３ ｃｍほどで、潮間帯の磯の転石裏などに付着しており、石灰藻と見間違えそうになる。体がちぎれるようにして増えると考えられている。

 

This species has a flattened body and lacks comb plates in adults.
Comb plates are present only during the larval stage.
It measures about 2–3 cm in length and attaches to the undersides of rocks in intertidal rocky areas, where it can be mistaken for calcareous algae. It is thought to reproduce by breaking off parts of its body.
