暖かい海に生息するミズクラゲの仲間であり、小笠原や沖縄でみられる。

生殖巣の形がハート形になることや傘縁の切れ込みが深い特徴を持つ。

飼育下では生殖巣がなかなかハート形にならないが、大きく成長するとその特徴が現れるかもしれない。

 

This species belongs to the family of Aurelia, a warm-water jellyfish, and is found in the Ogasawara Islands and Okinawa.
It is characterized by its heart-shaped gonads and the deep notches along the bell margin.
In captivity, the gonads rarely take on a heart shape, but this characteristic may become apparent as the jellyfish grows larger.
