傘径：～10cm

庄内浜では春～秋に出現する。夜行性のため日中はあまり泳ぎまわらず、また海藻や海底の岩などに付着して生活している。

刺し網漁でよく採集される。

山形県の「花笠まつり」の踊りで使われる「花笠」に似ている。

基本的に生きた小魚を好むが、当館では冷凍生シラスを解凍して与えている。

発光するクラゲでもあり、傘の周りの短い極彩色の触手のうち、先端のピンク色をした部分の手前、黄緑色の部分が発光する。

 

The Shonai Beach in front of Kamo Aquarium sees their appearance from spring to autumn.

Being nocturnal, they don’t swim around much during the day and live attached to seaweed or rocks on the seabed.
They are often collected using gillnets.

They resemble the “flower hats” (hanagasa) used in the dances of Yamagata Prefecture’s “Hanagasa Festival”.
They generally prefer live small fish, but at this aquarium, they are fed thawed frozen whitebait.
They are also luminous jellyfish. The yellow-green portion near the pink tips of the short, intensely colored tentacles around the bell emits light.
