数年の周期で大量発生しているが理由は不明である。

傘径は1m以上にまで成長し、漁業被害をもたらすこともあり、漁師からは嫌われている。

非常に大きくなるクラゲだが、寿命は一年未満と考えられる。

 

They bloom in large numbers every few years, though the reason remains unknown.
Their umbrella diameter can grow to over 1 meter, sometimes causing damage to fisheries, making them unpopular with fishermen.
Although these jellyfish grow very large, their lifespan is thought to be less than a year.
